The trip to the ship...

Our trip to the ship started at 6:30 this morning! Before we left the Mercy Ship coordinators warned us that the bus ride was going to be very curvy and slightly bumpy so there was a chance that we could get car sick! Me...being the dumb person I am...thought that there was no way that it could be that bad so I didn't bother taking gravol! (btw this car ride is 8hrs minimum) It turns out that it is indeed VERY curvy and by this I that every minute there is an 180 degree turns with a thousand little ones in between! Thankfully I didn't get sick unlike some of the other passengers! Though I did change my mind about the gravol half way though after I started to feel a little qwezzy! But I'm here at the ship now safe and sound! :)

Finally in Madagascar!

So I finally arrived in Madagascar early yesterday morning and after a good sleep I woke up finally at 11 am! Once I was finally up and wake I left my room to meet a few others that were also at my hostel that were going to serve with Mercy Ships! After meeting them all we finally had lunch around two and then decided to go for a walk around the capital! After walking for ten minutes we realized that the store we were looking for, shoprite, was a lot further away than we thought, so we caught a rusty old cab to shoprite instead! When we finally arrived at shoprite and we were browsing through the store the power all of the sudden went off! Apparently that happens quite often so everyone was pretty casual about the whole ordeal. Once we finally got back to the home we were staying in we met two more women from Mercy Ship that actually arrive on the same flight as me, but when they arrived at the airport they couldn't find the Mercy Ship coordinator who was there to pick us up so they actually went on their own to find a hotel and meet up with Mercy Ship coordinators the next morning! Then finally we got wifi, so I was able to let my family know that I made it here safe and sound! And that was about the extent of my first day in Madagascar!

Africa Mercy delay

Since this is my first post I just wanted to clarify that I am NOT promising great writing but I will do my best to keep you updated on what is happening with my Mercy Ship adventure. Right now as I was just planning on getting ready to leave I received an email informing me that because of some repairs needed on the ship's propeller, its return to Madagascar has been delayed. This means that I now have had to cancel my flight, that was booked for next Friday and rebook one so I now arrive in Madagascar on August 27 instead. Feel free to ask any questions you have in the comment section below. :)
